NCA Newsletter Summer break June 2025

It’s that time of the year again. Schools are finishing up the year and a lot of us are travelling. We are all expecting you back at the end of august! 😀

But before we grab our suitcases we wanted to thank you for a fabulous first half of the year. We had some amazing events already with lots of community involvement and great results.

Let’s do a quick trip down memory lane:

In MARCH we had International Women’s Day, where you helped us sponsor 80 Decathlon Vouchers for the women at the HOME shelter and pregnant teens at Babes. These vouchers gave them the opportunity to get new sports gear and -shoes and work on their mental and physical health. But most importantly: it gave them the feeling they were not forgotten and they mattered even in challenging times.

In APRIL we had our crazy orange events with the Kingsday week where we welcomed 70 new NCA supporters (Hey you!) and raised $5000 to grow the children’s football teams within the Enabling Leadership program. Together with Vopak we are now able to give 60 under-served Singaporean children the Life & Leadership skills they need for a brighter future.

In MAY we had our first Preloved Fashion Event at the HOME shelter and it was special! We’ve never seen anything like it. Together with you and the support of the businesses in our community we collected 1200 items of clothes, shoes, jewelry, belts, bags, you name it. Even some designer items! And created the most extravagant ‘bazaar’ for them. It was so well received that we did a fashion show with the women a few days later. The women just HAD to show their new outfits. 

Last but not least we had our yearly Swim for Charity event in May, a beloved event for the children and teens of the NCA. The weather was amazing and the kids were pumped up to swim and support a good cause.

This year the raffle afterwards brought extra excitement as you could win 2 tickets to Universal Studios. It was lovely to see all the happy faces and proud smiles of accomplishment after the event.

This event helped us raise funds and awareness for New Life Stories - to support Singaporean children who have parents in prison. We are grateful to announce that the kids raised $2000 together for this good cause.

After a well deserved break, we can’t wait to see you again after summer. And what better way to see everyone again than with a phenomenal party?!
